Heartland Trail's Detroit Lakes Trailhead Nearing Completion
The Detroit Lakes trailhead for the Heartland Trail is nearing completion, with a Minnesota Department of Transportation grant covering the majority of the $500,000 project and the city's food and beverage tax revenues funding the rest.
According to Detroit Lakes City Engineer Jon Pratt,
"Hough (the general contractor) is making good progress now", despite initial delays. Construction has caught up, with all underground foundation and utilities work, surface concrete improvements, and most site grading completed, including the parking lot area.
Pratt noted that
"They're planning to pave the parking lot area toward the end of the week".
