A bird thought to be lost to science for over a century has been caught on camera in the remote outback.
The night parrot, considered the planet's 'most elusive bird', was spotted in the spinifex grasslands near the border between Western Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The sighting was confirmed by Bush Heritage Australia researchers, who analyzed three photographs captured on Maiawali Country at Pullen Pullen Special Wildlife Reserve.
The critical find for conservationists came earlier this month.
The images were taken by a remote camera, providing a rare glimpse of this enigmatic bird.
