Obituary: Elaine M. LaLuzerne
Elaine M. LaLuzerne passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, and woke to new life in Christ.
She was born on November 22, 1937, in Rudyard, Michigan, to Elmer and Florence (English) Toppe. At the age of 5, her family moved to Door County, where she lived in Sturgeon Bay since elementary school.
After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1955, Elaine attended DK Teachers College in Algoma, where she met her future husband, Darrel LaLuzerne. They both taught in Door County public schools until the birth of their first child, Cindy, in 1964.
Elaine loved being a stay-at-home mom to her children, Cindy and Joe, and enjoyed keeping a cozy home, welcoming family and friends for home-cooked meals, fellowship, and laughter.
As she lived her life,
she loved raising her children, being the welcoming Mom to all the neighbor kids.
