Guardamar Shuts Down El Fogón Sunday Market

The Guardamar del Segura council has permanently closed the El Fogón Sunday market after 30 years of operating without a licence.

Located alongside the N-332 opposite the Santa Ana industrial estate, the market was shut down after the company behind it ignored a closure order issued by the council.

We’ve repeatedly asked for the necessary paperwork to regularise the market, but there has been no way to achieve it.

Mayor José Luis Sáez confirmed that the local authority has been trying to get the operators to legalise their situation for many years.

Local Police sealed the site, putting an end to the long-running market.

Author's summary: Market shut down after 30 years.
