A Very French Welcome
It's a well-known stereotype that French people love to protest. However, after having most of my classes cancelled in my first week at Sciences Po Lyon, I'm inclined to agree with this notion.
For international students, it's striking to see how politically engaged the students are. The university is home to two student unions and various issue-based societies, including:
- catcalling awareness
- homelessness support
- blood donation drives
- refugee language-teaching groups
This strong political culture is visible throughout the campus, with many classrooms displaying red student union stickers.
Parisians might not actually be as rude as we think
