Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Remains Accessible
Despite the ongoing federal government shutdown, visitors can still access Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, albeit with some limitations.
The park entry booths and Visitor Center are closed, but visitors can donate their entry fee through Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes, a philanthropic partner of the National Park Service.
Peak Fall Color Expected
MLive meteorologist Mark Torregrossa predicts that October 24-26 will be the peak period for fall color along the shorelines of northern Lower Michigan, making it an ideal time to visit the park and take a scenic drive along Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.
