Why are Edinburgh councillors so scared of progress? Take one guess

Edinburgh Councillors and Progress

Edinburgh councillors' fear of progress is puzzling, writes Herald columnist John McLellan.

A basic artificial intelligence tool caused a stir, and the green agenda may not improve Edinburgh's public services or restore faith in local democracy.

When even using a basic and commonly available artificial intelligence tool can cause a rumpus, the green agenda will do nothing to improve Edinburgh’s public services and further erode what’s left of any belief in local democracy

The erosion of faith in democracy is not unique to Edinburgh, as seen in France, where former President Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to five years for conspiring to fund his election campaign with money from Colonel Gaddafi.

This event may contribute to the decline of Western democracy, as people lose trust in elected representation.

Author's summary: Fear of progress hinders Edinburgh's development.
