Rolls-Royce Power Systems has successfully tested a high-speed marine engine powered exclusively by methanol, a milestone in climate-neutral propulsion solutions.
“This is a genuine world first,” said Dr. Jörg Stratmann, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG.
The engine, developed in partnership with the German Government-funded meOHmare research project, runs purely on methanol, with no other high-speed engine in its performance class achieving this feat.
Rolls-Royce is investing in future technologies to reduce CO2 emissions and expand its role in sustainable propulsion systems.
