Rensselaer County has announced it will stop accepting re-certification applications for the state-supported childcare assistance program due to a lack of funding from New York State.
According to the New York State Office for Children and Family Services (OCFS), Rensselaer County hasn't requested the available $558,232 supplemental funding. However, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin disputes this claim, stating
"The state owes us an apology".
