Hinsdale resident crowned Miss Teen

Maya Singh Crowned Miss Illinois Teen

Maya Singh, a resident of Hinsdale, was crowned Miss Illinois Teen for ages 16-18 last month.

She will represent Illinois at the National Pageant in Orlando over the Thanksgiving week. Singh looks forward to participating in philanthropic and community initiatives across the state, representing Hinsdale and Illinois with pride.

Her summer was marked by significant events, including being elected the 84th governor of Girls State in June. This position allowed her to collaborate with Sen. JB Pritzker on issues relevant to her generation.

She also worked with the local American Legion Auxiliary to promote discussions around veterans' affairs and civic engagement. Singh hopes that more young people can engage with these causes through programs like Girls and Boys State.

"I'm deeply grateful for the support of my teachers, coaches, friends, and community, whose encouragement has made these experiences possible,"

Singh said.
