A recent investigative report by the LA Times suggests that the catastrophic Palisades fire in January could have been prevented. The fire resulted in 12 deaths, nearly 7,000 burned structures, and tens of billions of dollars in damages.
According to the report, firefighters were ordered to abandon a smoldering burn site just days before the major inferno erupted. This smaller fire, which occurred on January 1st, is believed to have originated the massive January 7th blaze.
Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Paul Pringle, who co-authored the LA Times piece, shared the key findings of his reporting on CNN.
