A new nonprofit in St. Joseph, The Unforgotten Project, is partnering with local organizations to provide resources for those in need of support.
The organization's mission is to provide advocacy, recovery support, and educational resources, according to its mission statement.
“There is a lot of lived experience between the two of us,”
said Kristin Contreras, co-founder of the Unforgotten Project, who brings nonprofit experience and empathy to the project, along with co-founder Kenneth Rodriguez.
Contreras' personal experience includes being raised by a single mother and losing her teenage son to a fentanyl overdose, which motivated her to help others who have suffered similar losses and setbacks.
The Unforgotten Project aims to be a bridge that directly provides resources and facilitates partnerships in the community.
