The author was drawn to a particular photograph of a quaint general store, which reminded them of their own experiences with general stores in the state.

Community isn’t necessarily about town meetings or Facebook groups but is derived from the places that sell us coffee, eggs and a sense of belonging.

The author recalls their first visit to a general store, Hope General Store, where they bought greasy pizza, delicious brownies, and unbeatable iced tea, and still buys Little Lad’s popcorn to this day.
