G&L, Leo Fender’s last Orange County guitar company, has shut down

G&L Musical Instruments Closes Down

G&L Musical Instruments, founded by Leo Fender, has shut down after 45 years of operation in Fullerton, California.

The company, which produced guitars, basses, and other gear on Fender Avenue since 1980, closed down last month without official confirmation.

No comment was available from the owners, David and John McLaren.

According to the California Secretary of State's online business search tool, BBE, the parent company of G&L, terminated its corporate status with the state on October 31.
