Longtime visitors bid farewell to Six Flags America in Maryland as the park closed permanently on Sunday.
The park's parent company, which manages over 40 amusement parks in North America, announced the closure in May.
“We will feel its loss,” said Lise Bruneau, a Washington, D.C. resident. “I feel it already.”
For Bruneau, Six Flags America holds 16 years of memories, including where her son first learned to swim, and reignited her childhood love for amusement parks.
The closure of Six Flags America and its water park, Hurricane Harbor, drew a crowd of all ages for a final day of reminiscing.
