A Wind Advisory has been issued for our area by NOAA, effective from tonight to Wednesday, with gusty southerly winds of 35-55 mph and isolated gusts of 65 mph.
Residents are advised to prepare for potential power outages and property damage, and to have flashlights and extra batteries on hand.
A High Wind Warning is issued when winds are expected to reach 40 mph or more, and wind gusts are expected to reach 58 mph or more.
Fast winds can make things much more dangerous in places where there’s a bigger chance of wildfires.
In such cases, the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning when it’s very windy and dry.
