Great Bend's football team, led by coach Erin Beck, is set to host Wichita Carroll in a second-round 5A playoff game at Memorial Stadium.
Notably, Great Bend's lone trip to the 5A state football championship game came after a 21-14 win over Wichita Bishop Carroll in 2006.
"It's 5A West playoff time," said Great Bend football coach Erin Beck. "We're at the point where we'll have to play four quarters. Our kids are fresh and ready to go. The guys cranked it up in the weight room this week. They're getting stronger, which is a good sign."
Wichita Carroll has a 5-2 all-time advantage over the Panthers, with their first meeting in 2004 won by Great Bend 42-28.
The Eagles' offense is run-oriented, led by dual-threat quarterback John Corrigan, who also poses a threat with designed quarterback runs, and main backfield threat Cooper Herrman.
Corrigan recently scored two touchdowns in the Eagles' 24-20 win over Derby.
