To celebrate Stranger Things Day on November 6, Netflix unveiled initial visuals and an intriguing featurette for the upcoming animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. This date honors when Will Byers disappeared in Hawkins, Indiana, back in 1983.
Set in the harsh winter of 1985, the new animated series returns viewers to Hawkins. The original characters face fresh monsters and confront a paranormal mystery haunting their town.
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer discuss how the series began as a tribute to classic ’80s cartoons. Ross states, “When we started talking about, was there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas.”
The animation format allowed showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles, known for Fanboy & Chum Chum and Glitch Techs, and his team extensive creative freedom.
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 invites fans back to Hawkins with new supernatural challenges, combining ’80s cartoon nostalgia with fresh storytelling through animation.
