Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event after a tense confrontation between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil on Tuesday.
The incident began when Bosch refused Itsaragrisil’s request for all contestants to promote Thailand on their social media. He warned her, “You are in Thailand. You are in a game.”
The disagreement intensified during a photo session about Thailand. Itsaragrisil insisted Bosch verbally confirm she would share a promotional post, while she resisted participation.
“I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand.”
When Bosch tried to clarify her stance, Itsaragrisil accused her of siding with Miss Mexico’s directors rather than his Miss Universe team, then called her a “dummy.”
When he questioned why she remained standing after being told to sit, Bosch replied, “Because I have a voice,” adding, “You’re not respecting me as a woman.”
Other contestants shouted in protest as Itsaragrisil called security to remove Bosch. As she exited, Bosch told him,
“As women, you need to show respect for us.”
The confrontation sparked outrage among the contestants, leading to some walking out in solidarity.
