German automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler will supply parts to the German robotics company Neura Robotics, helping to advance the production of humanoid robots. The partnership was announced on Tuesday and includes the integration of a “medium four-digit number” of Neura Robotics' humanoid robots into Schaeffler’s production by 2035.
Schaeffler and Neura Robotics will jointly develop and manufacture essential components for humanoid robots, such as robotic actuators that control joint movements. Schaeffler brings expertise in planetary gearboxes, which provide precise rotational motion with high torque, a critical feature for robot actuators.
The actuators offered by Schaeffler come in different performance classes, capable of delivering up to 250 Nm of torque. Neura Robotics’ humanoid robot model 4NE1 is already equipped with these actuators, enabling it to handle heavy workloads effectively.
