Canon Launches EOS R6 Mark III and RF 45mm F1.2 STM Lens

Canon has introduced the EOS R6 Mark III full-frame mirrorless camera, featuring a 32.5-megapixel sensor and advanced video capabilities, alongside a new compact RF 45mm F1.2 STM prime lens.

Sensor and Performance

The EOS R6 Mark III uses the same 32.5MP full-frame sensor first seen in the EOS C50 cinema camera and is powered by the DIGIC X processor. It offers fast continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second with an electronic shutter, and up to 12 fps using the mechanical shutter. The buffer supports up to 150 RAW frames when paired with CFexpress cards.

Filmmaking Features

The camera is equipped to handle high-end video production with features borrowed from the EOS C50:

“Canon Log 2 provides up to 15+ stops of exposure latitude.”

Users can also apply LUTs in-camera during recording for flexible color grading. A new Custom Picture menu offers access to Canon 709 and BT color profiles.

Summary

The EOS R6 Mark III is a versatile hybrid camera ideal for photographers and filmmakers, bridging the gap between Canon’s EOS R5 and R6 Mark II models with advanced sensor, speed, and video features.
