The Canon EOS R6 III improves upon the already capable EOS R6 II, positioning itself as an advanced choice for photography enthusiasts. It features a new 32MP full-frame CMOS sensor designed for users who prioritize high burst performance and fast readout speeds.
The Canon EOS R6 III will be available from late November at a price of $2799, which is $300 higher than the EOS R6 II’s launch cost. The older EOS R6 II will also see a price drop to $2299.
The 33MP FSI CMOS sensor is new for Canon’s mirrorless hybrid cameras, previously seen only in the cinema-oriented EOS C50. Though Canon doesn’t claim any groundbreaking innovations, early tests indicate even faster readout speeds than the EOS R6 II.
Canon’s Dual Pixel design enables each pixel to split into two sub-pixels—one capturing the left, the other the right half of the image—supporting full-sensor phase detection autofocus.
The faster readout speeds, combined with refinements in the card slot and processing unit (from the same generation but with upgrades), deliver notable gains for video recording performance.
The Canon EOS R6 III refines Canon’s enthusiast full-frame line with a faster 33MP sensor, improved autofocus, and enhanced video capabilities, solidifying its place between the R6 II and cinema-class models.
