Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) introduced its next-generation Iron humanoid robot at the 2025 AI Day event. The robot appeared so realistic that many viewers speculated whether a human was concealed inside the prototype during the demonstration.
The lifelike appearance sparked widespread discussions on Chinese social media, quickly trending and compelling Xpeng’s leadership to address the rumors. Over half of the online comments doubted the authenticity of the robot, questioning if it was operated by a person.
"This truly leaves our robotics team both delighted and amused. Some people just can't believe how fast the world is changing," said He Xiaopeng, Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, on Weibo.
He Xiaopeng shared an unedited video on Weibo confirming that the new Iron model is a genuine robot. The video highlighted the robot’s smooth walking ability, details of its hand design, a microphone array near its ears, and internal cooling noises audible beside the robot.
"Tesla's robot can't walk this smoothly — there's no way this is possible," commented a social media user, illustrating the high praise for Iron’s agility.
This next-generation Iron robot showcases significant advancements in robotics design and realism.
The new Iron humanoid robot by Xpeng astonishes with its realistic motion and design, dispelling doubts about human involvement and marking a leap in robotics technology.
