The Toronto Blue Jays are now -230 favorites on FanDuel to retain superstar Bo Bichette, which reflects a 69.7% implied probability of re-signing him.
After coming within two outs of reaching their first World Series since 1993, the Blue Jays and Bichette are now turning their attention to contract negotiations. Bichette, who debuted seven years ago, has developed into one of the most formidable offensive shortstops in Major League Baseball.
Earlier this year, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bichette’s close teammate, signed a 14-year, $500 million extension to stay in Toronto. With Bichette entering free agency, many expect him to secure a similarly significant deal.
“I’ve said I want to be here from the beginning,” Bichette stated after the Game 7 loss.
Although he missed the final month of the season due to a left knee injury, Bichette still posted impressive stats: a .311 batting average, .357 on-base percentage, and .483 slugging, with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in 139 games.
Upon returning for Game 1 of the World Series, he hit .348 and recorded six RBIs over the seven-game series.
Bo Bichette's strong performance and expressed desire to stay make him the top candidate to re-sign with the Blue Jays as he enters free agency this off-season.
