Fatima Bosch, Miss Universe Mexico 2025, spoke out against what she described as undignified treatment by Nawat Itsaragrisil, a Thai businessman and president of Miss Universe for Asia and Oceania. The incident occurred during a preliminary event in Bangkok on November 3, 2025.
During the event, Itsaragrisil reportedly ordered Bosch to stand and questioned her about missing a sponsor photoshoot. The tension escalated, leading several contestants to walk out in solidarity with Bosch. This moment, which happened before the contestants’ sash ceremony, was recorded live and widely shared on social media.
“Anyone who wants to continue in the competition, sit down,” Itsaragrisil said on video, at one point calling for security to remove Bosch.
Bosch defended herself, emphasizing empowerment and the platform's intention to give women a voice.
“We are empowered women, and this platform is meant to give us a voice — no one can silence us,” Bosch told reporters.
She also claimed that Itsaragrisil insulted her by calling her “stupid” and was upset due to internal issues with the Miss Universe organization.
“I’m here doing everything right — I don’t bother anyone, I try to be kind, I’m doing my best — and he told me to shut up,” she said.
Despite the conflict, Bosch expressed her respect for Thailand and encouraged women not to accept degrading treatment.
This controversy highlights tensions within the Miss Universe organization and underscores Bosch’s call for respect and empowerment of women in pageantry.
