Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou has publicly accused Marvel actor Jeremy Renner of domestic violence, prolonged harassment, and threatening to call ICE to have her deported. Zhou, 37, shared these allegations in a series of Instagram posts and detailed her experience in an interview with The Daily Mail.
The two reportedly began dating in July after Renner sent Zhou unsolicited explicit photos and showed interest in her filmmaking projects. Renner contributed to two of Zhou’s films, an animated movie and a documentary titled Chronicles of Disney.
Zhou described an intense incident at Renner’s home in Reno while working on the documentary. She recounted:
“I was discussing about the doc logistics, then he drank a bottle of wine alone and got angry and angry yelling for two hours. I had to location share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me they know where I am. I had to lock myself in a room to be safe praying he would not come into the room at night as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life.”
Zhou also provided text messages apparently sent from inside a locked bathroom, where she told a friend about Renner’s violent behavior and expressed fear for her safety. These messages were shared with The Daily Mail in support of her claims.
