Over 30 students were hospitalized following a collision involving three school buses in Chicago during a field trip. The incident occurred on the morning of Friday, November 7, near Midway Plaisance and Dorchester Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
The buses were carrying students and staff from Orland School District 135, based in the Chicago suburb of Orland Park. They were traveling to a museum when the crash happened. The Chicago Fire Department reported that one adult and 31 students were transported to nearby hospitals. Three buses were involved in the accident.
Some students sustained minor injuries and were treated, while others were able to return safely to school. District officials issued a statement to address the community’s concerns:
“We know this news can be concerning for families, and we want to assure our community that all students are receiving the care and attention they need. Our staff and first responders responded quickly and with great care, and we are deeply grateful for their support.”
